08/29/20 - 11th Annual Environmental Film Festival
Schiff's 11th Annual Environmental Film Festival will be on Saturday, August 29th from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. This Year's Film:Just Eat It is a 74-minute documentary film about food waste and food rescue by Peg Leg Films in partnership with British Columbia's Knowledge Network.

We all love food. As a society, we devour countless cooking shows, culinary magazines, and foodie blogs. So how could we possibly be throwing nearly 50% of it in the trash?
Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away.

Featuring interviews with TED lecturer, author and activist Tristram Stuart and acclaimed author Jonathan Bloom, Just Eat It looks at our systemic obsession with expiry dates, perfect produce, and portion sizes, and reveals the core of this seemingly insignificant issue that is having devastating consequences around the globe. Just Eat It brings farmers, retailers, inspiring organizations, and consumers to the table in a cinematic story that is equal parts education and delicious entertainment.

The films will be shown at 7:00 pm at Schiff's Wood Badge Lodge. Face coverings will be required and social distancing seating will be employed. Festival attendees may choose to walk from the Nature Center at 339 Pleasant Valley Road in Mendham along marked trails to the theatre location, which is a gentle two-mile, or 20-minute, hike or take one of two complementary hay rides leaving from the Nature Center starting at 6 pm and again at 6:30pm. Starting at 6:30 pm filmgoers are invited to bring their own snacks and beverages and enjoy conversation around the fire pit prior to the film. Films are family friendly, but the content is geared for ages 10 and up. Member ticket fee is $15 each; family pack of four tickets for $50. Non- member ticket fee is $18 each; family pack of four tickets for $55. Student/senior ticket fee is $10. Space is limited. Advance registration is required.
